I'm well aware of the error in their pc file and CMakeLists. That is something 
I'm planning on correcting.

I'm sorry, are you obtuse? I _know_ these are dynamic in Fedora. But Fedora 
isn't the only RPM-based Linux distribution. If you're going to have a 
conversation about changing something upstream, you need to be cognizant that 
there are many other Linux distributions that rely on this functionality.

I know of at least four distribution families, and two of them have literally 
hundreds of derivatives between them, so it's a very wide impact that a change 
will make.
