You can, if you store values at exact intervals.  For instance,
if you have a database with 5-minute time slots, you need to
update at hh:00, hh:05, hh:10 and so on.

Yeah, however it has to be the end of the timeslot.

If you get your timing right, resampling is a no-op (but will
still occur).  I think that means you can achieve your goal.
