BGP has scaled remarkably well in supporting Internet growth since 1994 from a pure routing growth perspective but the resulting high-human-management care-and-feeding requirement of the current infrastructure system combined with site hijacking and other fundamental security challenges paint an entirely different picture of its adequacy.
