An "8+8" architecture does not necessarily require any address rewriting. So one can have architectures that fix the naming issues without being in a grouping called "address rewriting". Folks on this list might want to read IEN-1 to see how long ago some folks understood these are naming issues at their heart. (IEN-1 is online in PDF these days.)
