Hi Eliot,

Some time ago after Heather left, the community decided to arrogate to itself many of the powers previously held by the RFC Series Editor. And so we developed RFC 9280, which has been around for just about 2.5 years. We have in that time produced but a single work, and we have at most three active authors (Paul, Heather, and Alexis). Alexis' draft would reassign responsibility from this group to the LLC or tooling team.

I wonder: did we make a mistake in our approach, and how should we measure the work of this group?

The output of the model used by the SDO ranges from "works well" to "highly unproductive". I could argue that this group is unproductive given that it sent one document to the RFC Editor over the last 30 months. I could also argue that it is not a bad thing as more policy does not necessarily make the RFC Editor model more efficient.

Someone [1] mentioned a (practical) problem in 2023. How much would it cost to solve that problem before 24 December 2024?
