Yep, MathML would be far better.

The draft has some serious issues in dark mode, which I might have to look into 
further.  There is a style function to swap black and white in that mode that 
doesn't seem to be working very well on some of these diagrams.

I'm also a little concerned about the use of shades of grey: 50% is probably 
fine if you want to invert, but that doesn't necessarily track well for other 
points, nor does it recognize readability is non-linear across the scale, such 
that you can't really do a straight 50% and expect a good outcome.
