I disagree. As a strictly factual statement, an author should be free to list contributors. Indeed, I would say that there is a obligation on authors to list all people who made significant contributions. Courtesy suggests that contributors be notified. That's all. A request to have a contributor listing removed might be respected, but none of that demands that a contributor (who is not responsible for the document) have final say of the content of the document. I think those are the cases > that are problematic for the person listed. An acknowledgment (or contribution) does not imply that the person being acknowledged endorses the document.
