I disagree.  As a strictly factual statement, an author should be free to list 
contributors.  Indeed, I would say that there is a obligation on authors to 
list all people who made significant contributions.

Courtesy suggests that contributors be notified.  That's all.  A request to 
have a contributor listing removed might be respected, but none of that demands 
that a contributor (who is not responsible for the document) have final say of 
the content of the document.

All of this assumes, of course, that factual claims regarding contributions are 
accurate.

An acknowledgment (or contribution) does not imply that the person being 
acknowledged endorses the document.  I've been acknowledged on stuff I hated.  
I got over it.
