I have been doing more stress testing and have not duplicated the problem in the last two weeks since I compltely removed the install and reinstalled it. I don't know why, but it is looking like when I install a new .deb on a system with rsyslog in it, it's not replacing all the files (specificly the input and output modules). I know that they are in the .deb becouse if I manually delete them they are installed with a new .deb, but if I don't manually remove them they don't get replaced. since the /debian directory was removed I'm using checkinstall to make the packages.
