Hi all,

We have just released rsyslog 5.3.3, a member of the devel branch.
This version offers a partially rewritten queue engine. The functionality was
streamlined and simplified, resulting in not only fewer bug potential but
also greater speed. This engine sets an important basis on which all further
work can build.

Note that due to the magnitude of changes, there is some increased bug
potential. But in general, the new engine will be able to better handle some
situations where the previous engine ran into problems.

Also there are some bug fixes. This is a recommended update for all users of
the devel branch.

Improving rsyslog is costly, but you can help! We are looking for
organizations that find rsyslog useful and wish to contribute back. You can
contribute by reporting bugs, improve the software, or donate money or
equipment.

Commercial support contracts for rsyslog are available, and they help finance
continued maintenance. Adiscon GmbH, a privately held German company, is
currently funding rsyslog development. We are always looking for interesting
development projects. For details on how to help, please see
