Hi,

I just did some small changes to the rsyslog.conf and wanted to restart
the process:

# /etc/init.d/rsyslog restart
Shutting down system logger: [FAILED]
Starting system logger: Already running.
                                                           [FAILED]

# ps -elf | grep rsyslog
5 D root 2037 1 1 76 0 - 12040 sync_b Oct18 ?
03:32:10 rsyslogd -c 4 -x -f /etc/rsyslog.conf -i /var/run/syslogd.pid

This is rsyslog 4.2.0 running on RHEL5 and it's not the first time it
happens.

Any ideas on why this might happened and how to solve this w/o rebooting
the system??

Thanks,
Martin
