but does this look so much better? http://www.rsyslog.com/download/new_rsyslog.conf > - parsed/edited by a fronted tool that's probably the right route to take, but unfortunately such a tool needs to be writen AND installed on a system ("written" is already a problem...). So I think it should be possible to edit the config with just a regular editor.
