I have now looked at the mailing list archive as well as Ohloh stats. It
looks like there is some activity, but at a very low level. That indeed could
be a sign of a project that simply is mature and does not intend to add any
new features.

Also let me explain why I am especially alert: the situation(expat) looks
pretty much like sysklogd when I went to the project and tried to get some
changes in. And I would not like to end up contributing a new XML lib ;)
