Hi Rainer, I have some feedback after using it a bit:
First of all, I think the idea is awesome. It would make it easier for people like me who know what they want but not 100% by heart and therefore have to go back and forth between the config, the documentation, the debug output and so on. Being beta, there are some minor niggles. Here are the ones that I found so far: - for the Logsene HTTP Output, there is "Queue Dequeuebatchsize". I think "Batch Size" would make things easier for people who aren't familiar with queues - for the Elasticsearch output, there's bulkmode, but you can't choose the batch size as far as I can see - I can't seem to be able to delete actions or rulesets that I define On a more general note, I'm thinking: - this UI seems like A TON of work. That's probably a reason why I don't see this thing on most projects. How about open-sourcing it and allowing contributions? I assume it's an effort at first, but things like typos or links to documentation would be easily contributed by newbies like me - speaking of documentation, I think the config builder will take off if it links to the documentation and it's linked from the documentation. The "to" part will make the context easier to understand, and the "from" part will make the tool more popular, assuming that it works properly - in general, I think it's worth aiming it more to the new user than the expert. For example, many people don't know about impstats. What kind of statistics? I think checkbox names should be descriptive enough to give the newbie an idea of what it's about and a link to the docs to learn more All in all, I believe it's a brilliant effort, and I'd be sad to see it laying there unused. Because it could be very powerful for many people. I especially like the fact that rulesets are a part of this, and that you can easily build filters.
