I don't think there is a problem in having it, but I also don't think that we
want to make it the default in the pre-built packages we provide.
There are going to be some distros that enable it by default to make things
smaller, and for some things, this may make a noticable difference (I'd really
like to see rsyslog in OpenWRT for example, and there things are really tight)
so there is a small negative to having the option. But I don't think that it
needs test coverage, and I think the odds of it actually causing a problem (as
opposed to making it harder to debug a problem) are very small.
