PR is just a (github) Pull Request. Patches of course work also, but PRs are preferred. When you send a patch, I suggest to attach it to a github issue as I receive tons of mails and an not always process them immediately. Every now and then, some mail slips throught and an issue tracker or PR helps avoid that.
