That did it .. in a roundabout way. On the DB server it was installed, but the latest CPAN offered would fail testing. I moved back to RT's machine (newer version of the system) and was able to install the latest version of DBD::mysql and edited the script to point to our DB server instead of localhost.
That was the recipe for success!
