It's old software. Would you still install a 2.4 kernel, or Apache 1.3
(2.0 would be a better analogy except that 2.2 is fairly recent). If you
have no legacy system to support, use a modern system so that you
can take advantage of the newest features and support from the
community; there are still 3.6 installations but based on list traffic 3.8
is dominant.
