I donut know a damb thing about breaking down game films or nunna that stuff. I've said it before, I'll say it again. I _do_ know that Rusty Spoon is one of the _long time_ bama internet posters I listen to. So it sounds pretty damn good to me.

Or he's just a dumnass. :)

We looked our best against USF, and our second best against OU. USF had
*no* game film of our offense, and OU had only one weeks' worth
Coincidence? I think not. I think CMS did a great job trying to get this
team ready in six weeks, but this is the most vanilla offense I've ever seen
at the college level, and we are terrible at being creative in play calling.

I'll let you make the call:
It's 2nd and eight; BC and Shaud are in the backfield. What will be the
play call be?

A. Draw play to Shaud.
B. Draw play to Shaud.
C. Twin WR running deep crossing patterns with the flanker running a 15 yard
post.
D. Draw play to Shaud.

Add to that some VERY poor O-line play from "All-Americans" who read their
press clippings and you've got a recipe for disaster in the SEC. There are
no better or faster defenses in the country than in the SEC, and there are
only two ways to beat them: line up and beat them into submission, or try to
fool them with motion and mis-direction. I think CMS truly thought that we
might have a chance to do the former (he read the press clippings, too) but
we have proven ourselves totally unable to live up to the preseason O-line
hype. as for the second method, imagine the same scenario as above, except
the tight end steps off the line and goes into motion. The end result will
be:

1. The TE will cross behind the QB, stop, come back, and basically act as a
fullback for the draw play.
2. The TE will cross behind the QB, stop, come back, and basically act as a
fullback for the draw play.
3. The TE will flare out from the flanker spot to find the soft spot in the
zone for a gain of eight.
4. The TE will recognize M2M coverage and take the W linebacker one-on-one
in a streak or fly pattern.
5. The TE will cross behind the QB, stop, come back, and basically act as a
fullback for the draw play.

I am not a college coach, and I don't pretend to be one. I don't have the
answers, and I am thankful I'm not paid to find them. But I have broken
down game film many a time (my good friend is a HS football coach) and I can
diagram offensive trends with the best of them. We are as predictable as
the sunrise, and *that* (along with injuries) is why we look worse and worse
every game. Until we get some variety, creativity, and *execution* on the
offense...well, it could be a long season.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled partisan squabbling and name
calling...

Roll Tide!
