Clear your RTI
doubts at Delhi world book fair
Right
to Information (RTI) is the flavour of the season and a stall displaying books,
CDs and manuals on the RTI Act attracted many visitors in the 18th New Delhi
World Book Fair 2008.
The stall organisers also offered assistance and advice to the visitors about
the law. They were happy with the initial response of the people, many of whom
sought to understand the process of filing an RTI application and obtaining
information.
“Our basic purpose is to reach out to the people through the book fair platform
and spread awareness about the Act,” said Manish Sisodia of ‘Kabir’, an NGO
working to promote RTI, which has set up the stall. “The response has been
great in the first two days. People came to us with questions and problems and
we tried to assist them.”
RTI activist and Magsaysay awardee Arvind Kejriwal said, “It will be a great
help to the people who want to know about the nitty-gritties of the Act.”
