Hi SR & all, Would like to have your inputs and suggestions on below. Below are my personal experiences.
Good: Appeal was acknowledged in swift manner, information on personal appearance was served properly and decision was made on the spot. Order was pronounced and copy was supplied within a week's time. Officer was ready to supply the copy of order by AA on same day, but due to power failure, it was sent by speed post. Such appeals were decided in less than 20 days period. In such good cases, applicant is all praise to efficient officers and such experience upholds RTI act. Bad: Appeal papers received. Appeal date shown as date of receipt of appeal papers. Can you come tommorow for personal appearance? In addition to appeal memo appellant was asked to write his grievance on one more sheet of plain paper. Appeal started late. PIO was invited to come for appeal. Appeal started when PIO arrived. PIO was not carrying information or relevant documents. PIO was given opportunity to bring docs but couldn't find information. Is AA in beholden state? Order not passed for more than 45 days from date of appeal. Dear SR & group members: Last time we were discussing RTI at rural level. This is the situation. What could be the solution for this. Once again i request you all to consider this post in the Interest of Rural India where sharing information is exception and RTI applicants are viewed as miscreants. Regards, Avinash
