Central Crime Branch (CCB) officers have arrested Lohit Raja alias T C raja for
the supari killing of RTI activist Venkatesh in April.  Police first thought
Venkatesh was killed in an accident but the post mortem report revealed it was
murder.

Venkatesh of Eranapalyta had sought information under the RTI Act regarding
encroachment of government land in Jnanabharathi.  This angered some people
involved in land grabbing there and to eliminate him, they paid Lohit Raja.

Police said Raja and his associates murdered Venkatesh and made it look like an
accieent.  But when the post mortem revealed it was murder, the case was handed
over to the CCB which arrested Raja.  The case has been trensferred to
Kamakshipalya police station which has been asked to find out who gave the
supari.  The police said there were atleast six warrants pending against Lohit
Raja, who was also involved in a murder in 2000.
