For the last 6 moths I have been trying to get information via RTI concerning a super-secret database which the Home Ministry is putting into place to track all aspects of lives of Indian citizens and invade our privacy in the guise of natioal security. One of my sources told me that this is being done under cover of UID project.

Finally, Mr Habibullah's office only woke up and took cognisance of my complaint when a Leader of Opposition telephoned CIC and demanded to know specifically what was going on in my complaint against UID and this terrorist database. A hearing was held thereafter in CIC. 1 month later the order in this extremely simple life or liberty matter is still to be pronounced or conveyed to me. People are dying because of the inefficiency of this man and his circus. PA parent whose child was dying approached CIC under life or liberty was ignored - he approached the High Court which had some very scathing things to say against CIC in its order after the child died. In a previous case CIC filed to hear a case where babies were dying in Bawana. Now 400+ people died in Mumbai and the body responsible for issuing the defective smartcards which let in these terrorists is not under the RTI scanner because the CIC is stonewalling. If commercial newspapers are to be our primary source of information about the Government, then why do we need this Commission? Sarbajit
