Hello everybody!
I have just joined this mail list and, first of all, I would like to introduce myself.
My name is Jose Luis Garcia and I have got a grant at the University UPC of Barcelona
(Spain), in the department of Transmiters, Receivers and Radio Links.
I've been involved in a project requiring RT under Unix and we've been working on
Solaris 2.5 platforms.
Now, we are going to start a new project, also requiring RTOS, and I've thought of
Linux because I'm really interested on it. But, there is a problem, a little one; I
have no experience at all on it, therefore I'm sure I will need your help quite a lot.
Will you help me?
To start with, I have to install Linux, including RT-Linux, on a PC. Which
distribution should I use the best? From the RT Linux Web, it seems that RT-linux
version depends on the Linux kernel version, is it?
The main RT task the application will need will be related to the parallel port. I'll
have to manage it in the EPP mode in order to communicate with some DSP's, probably
TMS320C40. Is there any device driver for this? Do you have any information that could
help me?
Any information or support will be really appreciated.
Thank you very much
Jose Luis
