SanDisk have flash disk modules that emulate IDE at a hardware level.
Linux can't tell the difference between one of these and a HDD.
m-systems' diskonchip 2000 flash module emulates IDE at a software level
and requires a driver to work with linux. m-systems released a beta driver
last september and I think it has since been revised. The driver wasn't on
their website the last time I looked, but try emailing their tech support
section. Also, you won't be getting any code with it - it's proprietry.
Their driver mentions igel when it loads - they produce a product called
flash linux that they quoted me $10,000 for (www.igel.de). So I guess
flash linux is out of the question too.
For further info, try subscribing to the embedded linux mail list as this
is a fairly common thread (www.waste.org -> oxymoron's page).
