I totally agree.
It would be nice to have the required modifications in the kernel from the
start.
The RT applications and scheduler should still be insmodded in as they are
now.
As a potential industrial user of the system I can ( now ) convince my
management to consider using Linux.
They are getting used to the whole idea.
RT_Linux as a "patched add on" is a more difficult prospect.
If all the patches were in the mainstream kernel then the RT Linux concept
becomes
more of a specialist application rather than a kernel tweak.
This is much less of a fear to management.
