I think, that RTAI is a more generic approach for an rt-extension
(it adopts the original idea of NMT-RTLinux of changing as little as
possible to the standard kernel sources).

But for me, RTAI doesn't seem to be very stable:
I have screen-blanking and crashes with version 0.1, too.

Anyway: as both have nearly the same API: competition improves buisness :-)
(that is especialy true for open-source-software)
