Information on a project to create a generic Linux subsystem for memory devices, especially Flash
devices, now has its own website: http://www.linux-mtd.infradead.org/ . They've also got information on M-Systems' Disk-On-Chip 2000 which has some serious problems with its current driver, including a possible GPL violation  (http://www.linux-mtd.infradead.org/doc2000.html) .
