It seems the website has missed a very important point, The
Disk-on-Chip works, and works well. I would rather have a driver that
gets a job done than to have no solution at hand. The DOC got my
system up and running and did it in a very acceptible manner.

Subject: [rtl] problems with driver for disk on chip

  >From the last Linux weekly:

Information on a project to create a generic Linux subsystem for
memory devices, especially Flash
devices, now has its own website:
http://www.linux-mtd.infradead.org/ . They've also got information on
M-Systems' Disk-On-Chip 2000 which has some serious problems with its
current driver, including a possible GPL violation
(http://www.linux-mtd.infradead.org/doc2000.html) .
