Stuart-
I compiled and ran your example with the same results that I get with my examples.....
compiles fine
modules install fine
user side program runs fine
but,
shared memory always returns zeros

Any ideas as to system level things I should check?

One odd thing is that when I type 'free' at a terminal, it indicates that I only have
63176k (61 megs) of physical memory. Is this normal on a machine with 64M?
I thought it would be 65536k.
By the way, this number does not change if I remove the append="mem=63m" statement
from the lilo.conf file.

Hi Garth,

Nice to meet you at the show, I looked at your code, and I can't see
anything obviously wrong.

I have attached a stand alone test program that gives a simple example
of using shared memory. I tested it on rtl 0.9j+ (1.0) and 2.0.36. You
may need to change the -I in the makefile and some hash defines for the
size of memory on your system.

Details of how to use it are in the source header.

I hope this works for you.

Regards

Stuart.
