I have seen this problem before.  It occured after I installed RT-Linux and forgot to  
run lilo.  It is possible that you can boot up using the original Linux assuming it 
was not moved to another directory ot anything.  Otherwise the only other way I could 
resolve this was to re-install from the CD-Rom.  If you have a rescue disk use it to 
boot up the system and then run lilo.  I don't have access to my machine right now but 
I think you will find it in /etc.  If so just type /etc/lilo and that should solve the 
problem.  If you have to re-install don't forget to run lilo after you install 
RT_Linux.
