I am an electronical engineering student, and for my thesis I think of
using RTLinux 2.0. My problem is the following:
I have a certain pulse that is being attached to the parallel port. The
lenght of the pulse is +/- 100ms
I want to be able to get a value that is representing the length
(duration in time) of the pulse, and it has to be quite accurate, let's
say i have to be able to measure with an accuracy of 0.001 micro sec.
To solve this, already lots of people have pointed me to RTLinux, and
today, I downloaded RTLinux 2.0 and got to install it on my system:
~> # uname -a
Linux Heaven 2.2.13-rtl2.0 #1 SMP Mon Apr 10 19:41:40 CEST 2000 i586
unknown
The RTLinux version i have installed is the one that comes with the
dselect installation program for the Debian system.
So now, I am looking for some documents that can learn me how to work
with this RTLinux, and to learn how i can solve my problem. I have
already found the following documents on RTLinux on the Internet:
* RT-Linux Manual Project from the RT-Linux Documentation Group
(1998/07/09)
-> this is a very good document, but unfortunately, it's not about
RTLinux 2.0 and lots of chapters aren't written yet...
* RTLinux Version Two by Victor Yodaiken and Michael Barabanov
-> Haven't read this document yet, but seems very good... unfortunately
it doesn't explain the combination Interrupt Handling for RT-Linux, and
that's maybe what I will need...
* The RTLinux Manifesto by Victor Yodaiken
-> good document that explains the philosophy behind RTLinux, but isn't
too detailed on how to use and program with it...
Can somebody point me out to other documents that can help me to learn
RTLinux VERSION 2.0 ?
Thanks
Bart
