Hi
Real-Time agitated folk, and others also interested in hard real-time for Linux,
be it RTL or RTAI -
On a constructive note, some of this debate is good. Granted that we should all
make the effort to acknowledge the
concepts and programing styles contributed by others. On another note how hard
real-time hooks into Linux is
a hot debate worth having....
That is to say if Real-Time hooks are ever going to make there way into the main
stream linux kernel it will
be because this list managed to come to a very important consensus.... A consensus
that will matter!
Thus lets have this debate... pros vs. cons, Please with gracious acknowledgments
included!!!
We might proceed to come up with a party line that leaves Linus feeling like the
real-time camps
can agree about the part of this that affects his work..... Ie. we should respect that
he might help us
down our Hard Real-time road if we can help him by coming to agreement to the degree
that
allows us to recommend a small and unified set of kernel adjustments.... am I dreaming
or are we all
trying for this same thing ?.... Hard Real-Time for Linux with hooks nailed into the
kernel so it is less likely to break
on Kernel revision.
You are all good at these things, and clearly have your heart in it, that's why the
feeling are felt so.
With much respect for all, be it building RTAI or RTL....
....At least in America, I think it is good that we have two camps!
... It's Looking up for Hard Real Time Linux.
Cheers
