Next week I have to give a presentation to the Open Modular Architecture Controls (OMAC) Users Group entitled "A Survey of Linux, Embedded Linux, and Real-Time Linux". I understand that many OMAC members are big fans of Windows CE, especially 3.0 with real-time. In fact one of the other presenters is Ed Lansinger from Microsoft giving a presentation called "Windows CE/Linux Comparison". Just in case you are curious, see http://www.arcweb.com/omac/GenMtgs/0201MtgAgenda.htm for more info. In checking out the competition I came across the document http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/techart/rt30designing.htm#rt30designing_perf Which seems to claim 5 microsecond worse case interrupt latency on a 350 Mhz which will probably sound better than the 15 microseconds the RTL FAQ mentions. Is this a fair comparison? Are there other advantages of RTL over CE 3.0 that I should be prepared to mention other than being free and open source? -- Will -- --------------------------------------------------------------- William Penn Shackleford III [EMAIL PROTECTED] National Institute of Standards & Technology Tel: (301) 975-4286 100 Bureau Drive Stop 8230 FAX: (301) 990-9688 Gaithersburg MD 20899 USA http://www.isd.mel.nist.gov/personnel/shackleford/ Office Location: Bldg. 220 Rm A253 -- [rtl] --- To unsubscribe: echo "unsubscribe rtl" | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] OR echo "unsubscribe rtl <Your_email>" | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- For more information on Real-Time Linux see: http://www.rtlinux.org/rtlinux/
