I had selected the wrong driver, now I can load the right one as a module
and use rtnet. I still have some problems with rtifconfig: if I do
"rtifconfig rteth0 up 172.30.30.5 netmask 255.255.0.0" the answer is "ioctl:
Inappropriate ioctl for device". Whta does it mean? The ip address and
netmask I used are the ones I usually have with eth0..

Is it possible that you accidentally mixed up an old version of rtifconfig with a new rtnet.o or vice versa? We changed the internal interface in version 0.6.0, and this is a typical error message for it.
