Did you check for IRQ conflicts as I suggested...?

BTW, a non-existent IP in rtnet.conf is not a valid state. You have to
provide some.

The non-realtime driver which may have been attached to the card before
must be shut down and removed. But if not, you should not suffer from
crashes, rather from warnings about non-existing rteth0 or so.
