Depends on how deep you want to dive. Here are a few comprehensive books on these topics: Giorgio C. Buttazzo, Hard Real-Time Computing Systems, Predictable Scheduling Algorithms and Applications, Springer, 2005. Jane W. S. Liu, Real-Time Systems, Prentice Hall, 2000. [very detailed] Herman Kopetz, Real-Time Systems, Design Principles for Distributed Embedded Applications, Kluwer Academic Publishers, 1997.
