I'm using an RTAI patched vanilla kernel 2.6.19 with latest vulcano and
magma and it work's fine. I use rtnet 0.9.7 too.
I'm working with it a lot every day and it works fine. I use rtailab without
any problem too.
I use two UP machine and I'm planning to test APIC but i've not do it
anymore.

We solved the problem using a vanilla kernel (without any patches).
Xenomai 2.3rc3 works fine with both 2.6.17 and 2.6.19, but RTAI svn only
works with 2.6.17 (on 2.6.19 does not even compile). We are going to test
Xenomai 2.3 with our machines and the latest ipipe patch.
