ah, OK - I tried it, because I couldn't bring up a real setup with a
master and slave, so I tried this simplier test.

That was trunk. I just tried it with the current v2.3.x-branch(r2168) and
the loopback-test works! I thought trunk and v2.3.x were (nearly)
identical ...

no problem, I thought as much. The main differences are the different
names for the modules. The description of the API is/will be great for
starters.
