This actually has two aspects (which are related, though):

1. Status of Linux support

Is there a board support package? Does it work? Is it up-to-date (2.6.x,
fresh 2.4.x, or even part of mainline)?

Depending on that, you can evaluate how to get real-time on that
platform. Take care not being fooled by oldish documentation. There used
to be RTAI support for MIPS, but that is old and unmaintained now. If
you just need to get things working once, you may go that path, but you
will likely also have to pick an old RTnet version in that case, and you
will have to do a lot of things on your own. For a future-proof
solution, rather consider joining the community. There are two ongoing
efforts to get Adeos/I-pipe and Xenomai running on MIPS [1,2].

2. RTnet driver support

Is there a GPL Linux driver available? If yes, I could estimate via a
"short glance" the potential issues of making that driver RT-safe (no
guarantees will be provided, of course :) ). Generally, that porting
shouldn't be a big issue, just takes a bit debugging and thorough code
review. The latter will also be granted once you submit your code for
inclusion in RTnet.

Looking forward to RTnet on MIPS / AXIS!
