What conflict might that be? > What does "known to function" precisely mean? What has changed? Almost nothing. Usually my linux boots from usb. Now since I am growing to a "production" machine, I have let the machine boot the identical distribution from hard drive. Now one could think that it is access to the hard drive that causes the problem. But that cannot be the case because it is still a "live" distribution which is running completely in RAM. The harddrive does the job the CDROM or the USB usually plays in a live linux case. Its only there to allow loading to RAM. The harddrive is mounted in the same place (roughly) where the USB is usually mounted but it is "dead" storage and AFAICS does not do anything anymore. So, essentially nothing has changed. But then again clearly something has. But I cannot figure out what could have changed that should affect this. When I plug in the USB and boot from that everything works again. I can repeat the trick a hundred times. Works when booting from USB freezes when I booted from harddrive. Hence the thought that some setting/loading etc is not called when I boot from HD which is called when i boot from USB and which causes this behaviour. > >> Is there something I am forgetting to do/configure/start before trying >> to bring up rtnet? > > Nothing you could forget should bring the box down this way. Its not the NIC (see above) no xenomai version changed. How do I set things up to give a potential oops via the serial console?
