That's what I mean, the card is not the problem. The problem is the current 
setup, so as a result it is not working. But of course not the card is the one 
to blame. ...

Depends on your requirements. I would at least give it a try, if possible. 
Buying those e1000 for PCI-e could save your skin. If it's okay to return to 
rtai, you can of course do this, too. Depends if you need xenomai or not. If 
RTAI works and you don't need any xenomai features, why not using rtai ....
