I looked a bit at this just to make sure I'm not giving completely incorrect advice. It's at least not completely trivial (requires patches to python sources). If it's not too hard, I'll churn through them since I got started. If it turns out to be too hard, I'll wait for mato to do it ;)
2) use python built on NetBSD, it should work (?)
So this is probably your best bet at least as of this second.
