I should have asked earlier, but better late than never: this
conversation's gone off the rails and well into the "non-courteous,
non-productive" territory we ask people to keep off our lists. See

We're going to support multiple variants of stack segmentation, much
like supporting multiple variants of coroutine:thread mapping, depending
on platform, deployment scenario, and user preference. We don't need to
descend into a fight over which platform is best engineered. Different
people have different needs.
