Are you talking about the select and middle-click to paste ? i use it
all the time, and I don't see how nautilus doesn't complies with it.

The thing is to show the path of the current directory, you have to
type Ctrl-L (and i'm quite happy with it, I don't use it often so I
wouldn't like to have it all the time on all my windows)

What's great about drag&drop is that I don't need to touch the keyboard
to drag&drop. So it saves time.
If I want to use the clipboard, I have to type Ctrl-L (not a big
problem), deselect the path, reselect it to have it in the clipboard,
than press Esc to close the popup and paste on the terminal. For me
it's longer.
