Dead serious.  That's why there are SlackBuilds for them at
http://slackbuilds.org/result/?search=afterimage&sv=13.1 and
http://slackbuilds.org/result/?search=pixbuf&sv=13.1 (SlackBuilds are
community-provided automated builds for Slackware, not part of the official
Slackware organisation).
