    Hi Ed,  I think O size actually gives closer to the same viewpoint
that we get when watching real trains,

   but most people don't have enough room to build a large O layout so
S is a better compromise. When trying to model something that is huge
it helps to use as large of models as possible, HO and N scale don't
come anywhere near O scale in realisim, just watching them jiggle down
the tracks takes away any realistic advantage their expansive scenery
gives them. I cannot make a connection between a real train and an N
scale model that I can blow off the tracks....dave
