John Luther Jones was an engineer on the Illinois Central (way before 
they ruined the GM&O) He died at the throttle of #382 at Vaughn 
Mississippi (my favorite state to spell) on April 30 1900.

"All the switchmen knew by the engine's moans, That the man at the
