I have a Regal 65' Erie mill gon & also a Wisconsin Central Supply PRR G22 gon kits. Can anyone fill me in on the history of Regal & WCS?
When did Regal produce S craftsman kits? How did WCS come to own/take over Regal? What other craftsman kits did Regal and WCS produce? What happened to WCS? Does anyone have a copy of the 65' mill gon plans from a WCS kit? The plans were supposed to have been updated/redrawn and show more details than the plans in the Regal kit. In particular, I am curious about the brake gear arrangement for an Erie 65' mill gon. The Regal kit instructions do not show any info on the brake arrangement. I am wondering if the instructions in the WCS kit address this issue. Also, the Regal kit was also offered as an NYC gon. Is the underframe brake layout for an Erie 65' gon substantially different from that of an NYC 65' gon? I think I am on the right track, so to speak, with respect to the brake arrangement for the Erie gon; I have a copy of plans for an Erie 53' fishbelly flat & can use this for inspiration. I'm just curious about the WCS kit instructions. Dick Karnes, the R. Mobley librarian, has a copy of the plans from a Regal 65' mill gon but doesn't not have a copy of the plans from a WCS kit. I am sure he would appreciate a copy if anyone has one to spare. In fact, he accepts original kit instructions and plans from any "vintage" kit. Thanks!
