I recently won some AC Gilbert S scale cars (mostly 2-bay hoppers)... What prototype do the 2-bay hoppers represent? The 2-bay and 3-bay hoppers (Gilbert and Lionel) are not suitable for scale conversion, even though many hi-railers and scalers have done so! The defect being that the hopper bays do not have enough slope and they are too close to one another in the middle. This was done to accomodate the oversize trucks and wheels.
