Ed:

I guess I'll go to Sacramento for completing my education. In the
meantime I'll share my stupidity with the group.

Hi Ron....Nice try, but that is not even close. I was referring to
the
paint scheme on the loco when it traveled in the SOUTHBOUND
direction as
opposed to the paint scheme on the loco when it traveled in the
NORTHBOUND direction. You tried to change the question, but it didn't
work. But a darn good try, I might add. Any more ideas out there in
DPH-land? Cheers...Ed L.

Aw comon Ed, give 'em a hard one. Even us Midwesterners know the
ball of the ball and wings on the Daylight insignia is always toward
the front of the locomotive on both the north side and south side of
the loco. You were, of course, refering to the sides of the loco
north and south) not NORTHBOUND and SOUTHBOUND, the direction of
travel. sound like you may have been over to Sacramento reading
about Charles Eggelstons work on the design of the insignia.

Perhaps one can tell us why the engineer's side is the north and the
copilots is the south side.
